What is The 49er Problem?

For more than two decades now, 49er-Haters and the most knowledgeable NFL fans have understood what has become to be known as The 49er Problem. Since January 1996, the NHS has attempted to explain The Problem via this web site.

In a nutshell, The 49er Problem is the arrogance, ignorance, hypocrisy and double-standards associated with and unique to the overrated 49ers. Some people unfortunately misinterpret this as having a problem if the 49ers win (the classic "you're just jealous" Niner fan response). However, whether the 49ers win or lose doesn't matter -- except for the fact that the Bandwagon only exists when the 49ers win -- so it's at those times when The Problem is magnified.

If you're a veteran visitor to the NHS or if you have been a Niner-hater since the Bandwagon was born in 1981, you get what the 49er Problem is all about. However, these 49er Problem Pages may still be a useful tool for you to reference and put it all together. We look forward to receiving your feedback.

Primarily, though, these 49er Problem Pages are for the all-too-common scenario of when a new reader will come to this website knowing nothing except what they have been shoveled by the 49er propaganda machine. These newbies lack the foundation to truly understand what we're doing here. For example, we often mention how the so-called West Coast Offense waters down the game, and while that concept is obvious to us, some people don't get it because they've never been exposed to criticism of it in the mainstream media.

To this day we still receive correspondence and see all around us the complete failure of people to grasp the concept of The Problem, especially the so-called "experts" in the media, who really have no excuse. The Problem Pages, therefore, attempt lay the proper foundation for many things we 49er-Haters take for granted as common sense in order to avoid those cases in which our carefully crafted opinion and evidence is misunderstood. 49er fans, of course, are not the target audience ("for those that refuse to believe, no explanation will suffice"), but hopefully this can provide some enjoyment for 49er-Haters and those who come with an open mind.
